How to read a lace cap

HD is thinner. Transparent is a little more forgiving on deeper skin if you tint it. Neither one will save a hairline that was plucked down to the mesh.

Hold the lace up to a window, not a ring light. HD disappears sooner, which is the point, and it also tears sooner if you melt it every morning with a hard-hold gel. Transparent has a little more body. Tint it with your usual foundation and it sits quietly on deeper skin where an untinted HD can read grey.

What the knots are telling you

Small, bleached knots along the part are what you want. A row of large knots means the hair was ventilated in a hurry. A hairline plucked down to bare mesh will not grow back. You can pluck a little more. You cannot put the hair back.

  • 13x4 is ear to ear. Enough for a side part and a natural hairline.
  • 13x6 leaves lace behind a high ponytail, so the cap does not show when the hair is up.
  • A closure wig skips the forehead lace entirely. Choose it when you want a part and nothing to melt.

Shop straight hair and frontals when you want this lace on a finished piece.
